Is it too late to register for swim team?
There is no registration deadline to join the fall or spring swim team so it's never too late to join!
How do I register my child for swim team?
Register in person at the Welcome Center in the Maryland Farms lobby.

Can my child try out the swim team before we register and pay?
Absolutely, we strongly encourage you to try a week before registering. That way, you'll know exactly what to expect out of the team before making the financial commitment.
What do we need to bring to practice, and do I have to buy a team suit?
You'll need a bathing suit, goggles, swim cap (we provide that!) and towel for practice. You are not required to purchase a team suit. There is information about purchasing suits on our website. We also have a suit sizing at the beginning of each season, at which you can purchase suits, goggles and fins.
How do I know what level (Beginner, Advanced, or Intermediate) my child should be in?
Our Head Coach, Jim Chapman will help place your child in the appropriate swimming group. You can discuss placement the first week of practice.
If we can't make it to practice twice a week, are there once-per-week attendance options?
Swimmers learn and develop strokes faster with more practice. Although we strongly encourage you to bring your swimmer twice a week, we realize some families are too busy to commit to two practices per week. We do offer a once-per-week option for $90/season. Contact Aquatics Director Gretchen Bates, gbates@ymcamidtn.org, to arrange payment.
If we miss a day of practice, can we make it up on another day?
Yes! If you miss a day of practice, you can make it up on any other day that we have practice, Monday-Thursday. Please let Coach Chapman know if you'll be away for an extended amount of time.
Do you cancel practice when the pool is closed for lightning/thunder?
If the pool is closed due to lightning/thunder, practice will be cancelled. Swimmers are encouraged to make-up the missed practice by attending another day of the week, Monday-Thursday.
Is there practice on holidays and snow days?
We follow the Williamson County School Calendar. If there is no school due to a holiday or snow day, then we will not hold practice that day.
When are swim meets held and does my child have to compete?
You'll find a swim meet schedule by clicking the "Meet Schedule" tab on our website. Swimmers are encouraged, but not required to participate in swim meets. There is a $10 meet fee for all YMCA of Middle TN league meets, except home meets. You swim for free at Maryland Farms hosted meets!
Is there financial assistance available to families who cannot afford swim team?
Yes, the YMCA strives to make its membership and programs affordable to all. For information on our Open Doors program, please contact Alicia Deeds at adeeds@ymcamidtn.org or stop by the Welcome Center for more information.
Do YMCA Employees receive a discount for swim team?
We offer a 50% discount for YMCA families. Show your employee badge to the Welcome Center when registering to receive your discount.
